How Should Love Be?

We often hear that love is many things: patient, kind, selfless, and enduring. But what if love is also healing? Not just a temporary relief, but something that truly mends the soul and helps you move forward.

For a long time, I thought love would show up as motherhood. I spent seven years chasing that dream through fertility treatments, holding onto hope with every appointment and prayer. When I finally faced the reality that I wouldn’t become a mom, my world fell apart. I didn’t just lose a dream; I lost a part of myself.

The years that followed were heavy with loneliness and self-doubt. I questioned my purpose and wondered who I was if not a mother. It felt like life had no direction.

Then something shifted. I learned tools and perspectives that helped me see my life differently. I found ways to heal, to forgive myself for the dreams that didn’t happen, and to open my heart to new possibilities. Most importantly, I learned that love—real love—starts within.

Loving yourself isn’t always easy, especially when you feel broken. But it’s the first step to healing. By being kind to myself and letting go of the guilt, I started to feel whole again. And when I began to heal, the love I found within overflowed to those around me. It strengthened my relationships and gave me purpose.

Love isn’t just about romance or family. It’s about connection, understanding, and support. It’s in the people who stand by you when life feels impossible and in the strength you find to keep going. And it’s in the way we give back, helping others heal and find their way.

Life didn’t turn out the way I planned, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less beautiful. Love taught me that. It helped me heal, grow, and give. Even when things don’t go as we hope, love can turn our pain into something extraordinary.
